Girl Friday: Don't follow your dreams, Follow me

Instagram is one app in a million. It gives people a job and in many positions it’s your business card. I remember when I was in London for a training and I introduced myself as a blogger and people categorised me as just another blogger automatically. One woman asked for my Instagram username and when the training continued the next day, I wasn't just another blogger any more.

My Instagram had been worked through and it got praised for collaborations with A-list brands, the photos and styling got extra attention. It must have been three years ago. That's when I realised that as a blogger, my CV is my Instagram feed, it's part of my job - I've never thought of Instagram like this. And yet, sharing my life on Instagram gives me mixed feelings - even though you can control every step and image that you upload, I sometimes sigh and ask myself why. I would like to get off the wagon sometimes. The good thing is that nobody is stopping me from doing that. But still there are those funny moments we realise we're spending too much on our smart devices.

In the beginning of the week, I was browsing a magazine and I saw a small photo. All of a sudden I wanted to zoom in with my fingers until I realised it was ... just a magazine. Those are the moments I feel I have spent too much time scrolling my smart device and Instagram. But it's part of my job. I also manage the Instagram accounts of some brands, I create their content, so I have to spend more time on Instagram than usual. But when my tedium recedes, I'm happy to share my life again. The most important thing is to remind yourself that it's only an app at the end of the day.

By the way, my most watched Insta Story last year wasn't from an event or a glamorous photo series. It was riding downhill on my scooter and I showed people a bit of the sky and nature. Going around on my scooter is something I love perhaps the most and I guess it means that when you share something that gives you a lot of joy, your passion will be noticed and the bliss becomes contagious. Those images were taken for the fashion pages of PULSS magazine where the topic was also Instagram. The selfie that I took in that picture can be seen in 24h in my Instastory @stellaarium. What kind of emotions does Instagram trigger in you and have you done smart device detoxes?

Instagram on üks äpp miljonite seast.

TOP 4: Best Full Coverage Concealers

Makeup base has to always be flawless. An inseparable part of a beautiful makeup base is concealer. When tired under-eyes have been covered, the face looks completely different. So I have been on the lookout for the perfect concealer for years. I have found at least four great concealers that I will recommend with ease.

These concealers have been in my beauty box for years and I buy them over and over again. Although I get to test various new concealers as a beauty editor, I always go back to these products. Why are they the best? Each has its own perks. So these four products are always in my makeup bag. When I work as a makeup artist, I recommend these four products to my clients. This TOP 4 includes concealers from different price ranges and one is no worse than the other. Quite the opposite - each of them get maximum points from me.

Maybelline - The Eraser Eye

I've used Maybelline's Eraser Eye concealer for years. It's one of those products that you don't know how you lived without before you discovered it. I think it's an exceptionally multifunctional product. When I need a stronger base that still looks natural for a photo shoot, I mix it with my foundation. One time when I had decided to quickly do my makeup in the car, I discovered I had left my foundation at home. So I used The Eraser Eye on the whole face, used a bit of powder and contoured slightly, and I was flooded with compliments. It's texture is moisturising and it looks really natural. This Maybelline concealer is what I take with me most of the time when I leave the house. My favourite shade is Light and I have also used it in the makeup video that you can see here.
Buying tip: I always buy it three at a time and I usually stock up when there is an offer on Feelunique - pay for two, get three. I recently discovered that this product has finally made it to Estonia and when my stocks had ran out one day, I bought it from Stockmann. It's so good when the products you've deemed irreplaceable finally make it to Estonia. Price: 13.90 €

Urban Decay "Naked Skin"

It's as if it was yesterday that I participated in the Urban Decay masterclass in London and I got a fabulous makeup (photo proof here). The makeup artist used Urban Decay's concealer Warm Light under my eyes, and it made my skin exceptionally fresh. My first purchase from Urban Decay was their concealer and since that time it has always had a place in my makeup bag. It has a really light texture. I always apply it under my eyes with the applicator and tap it into place with my fingertips. There are plenty of different shades of Urban Decay's concealer, so it's best to have a look yourself. Price: 24.99 €

Rimmel Match Perfection Illuminating Concealer

Rimmel's Match Perfection Illuminating Concealer has also been a favourite of mine for a couple of years. I don't remember when exactly we had our first meeting, I probably ordered it during some promotion at Feelunique. It's a creamy project that covers signs of fatigue properly, but naturally. It's good news that Rimmel's Match Perfection Illuminating Concealer has also been available in Estonia for some time. The bad news is that since it's such a great product, I couldn't buy it as it was sold out. I use the shade Ivory - it's a wonderful light shade that gives your under-eyes a well-rested look.

Buying tip: If you can find the product in Estonia, buy a few as you can never know when it's gone again. I also recommend having a look at Feelunique that often has very good offers. When I last checked, Rimmel's products were -30%. Not bad? Price: 6-12 €

Shiseido - Sheer Eye Zone Corrector

Shiseido's Sheer Eye Zone Corrector has perfect coverage, but it is also moisturising and leaves you feeling that your under-eyes are well cared for. By the way, it's one of the first concealers I started using under my eyes. I've always had a pull towards Japanese cosmetics and I've found several miracles from Shiseido. This concealer has a brush applicator where you twist out the necessary amount and cover the under-eyes gently. I use the shade Very Light 10 and the result is very fresh and clear. Price: 30 €

Miks nad on parimad?

Maybelline "The Eraser Eye"

Maybelline "The Eraser Eye" concealer on olnud mul kasutusel juba mitu head aastat. See toode käib nende hulka, mille kohta tekib küsimus: kuidas ma enne selle leidmist üldse elasin? Minu arvates on tegemist erakordselt multifuntsionaalse tootega.

Price: 13.90 €

Urban Decay "Naked Skin"

See oleks olnud justkui eile, kui käisin Londonis Urban Decay masterclassi koolitustel, kus meigikunstnik tegi mulle lummava meigi (siin on fototõestus). Silma all kasutas ta just Urban Decay concealerit "Warm Light" mis lõi kogu minu näonaha erakordselt värskeks. Hind: 24.99

Rimmel Match Perfection Illuminating Concealer

Rimmel Match Perfection Illuminating Concealer on samuti juba vähemalt paar aastat olnud minu lahutamatu sõber.

Samas soovitan kiigata ka Feelunique`i lehele, kus leiab pidevalt väga häid pakkumisi. Viimati olid enamik Rimmeli tooteid üle 30% allahinnatud. Pole paha? Seega hinnad, millega Rimmelit osta kõiguvad üsna hoogsalt. Hind: 6-12 €

Shiseido Sheer Eye Zone Corrector

Shiseido Sheer Eye Zone Corrector on ideaalse katvusega ning niisutab samal ajal silmaaluseid ja tekitab tunde, et need on hästi hooldatud. Muide, see oli üks esimesi peitekreeme, mida silmade all kasutama hakkasin. Mul on alati olnud tõmme Jaapani kosmeetika vastu ja Shiseidolt olen leidnud palju imesid. Sellel concealeril on pintsliga ots, millega saab vajaliku koguse välja keerata ja sellega õrnalt silmaalused katta. Minu kosmeetikakotis on toode Very Light 10, millega jääb tulemus värske ja klaar. Hind: 30 €

Millised peitekreemid on sinu kosmeetikakotis? Jaga julgesti oma soovitusi, ehk leian mõne uue lemmiku?

Christmas is over, it's time to prepare for Christmas!

Christmas is over, it's time to prepare for Christmas! Indeed, the long holidays and NYE are a thing of past and before the (hopefully warm) spring there are a few long winter months ahead of us. I have celebrated long holidays for some years already. Namely, I have entertained myself with buying Christmas-themed things in January. The reason is simple: once Christmas is over, prices drop and any interest towards Christmas stuff drops exponentially.

I totally understand those who don't want to hear anything about Christmas at this point. Seasonal stuff is in shops already in October and by the end of December, we're all fed up with it. I haven't really been bothered by all the Christmas stuff in supermarkets usually - it just doesn't captivate me. Why? Because you can find lovely Christmas things in second hand shops.

This year my daughter announced that a few of her classmates wear Christmas themed sweaters to school and asked whether I happened to have anything like that. In the rest of the world, Christmas sweaters are popular, but not so much in Estonia. One nice sales assistant at a second hand shop told me about how she put tens of Christmas sweaters on display and at the same time one lady already gasped: "Such ugly sweaters!" But there was a true pearl among those 'ugly' sweaters that I bought for my daughter - a vintage Michael Simon sweater with embroidery and beads. I'm actually glad there are people who think that this kind of precious vintage stuff is ugly, because otherwise this beauty wouldn't have made it to our home. It's worth mentioning that the true rush for Christmas sweaters starts when the holidays are over and shops want to get rid of the stuff. In Estonia it's wise to check into shops that sell things from the US, but a vigilant peek into eBay never hurt anyone.

Something that's worth having a look at is the world of Christmas decorations and tableware. Those who love Christmas stuff, will find sad-looking Christmas bears with red bows around the neck at half price, looking for new owners. I really like Christmas decorations - this season I bought a relative a box of oldschool-looking decorations, but since they managed to leave Estonia already, I decided to keep them for myself. In less than 11 months, I'm going to unbox them and decorate the Christmas tree again.

A lovely jewellery box found its way onto my own cupboard this year, I was taken by it in seconds. I used it in the post where I talked about how to decorate rooms and Christmas presents with dried oranges (read the story here). Oh yes... I've bought my Christmas cards from second hand shops for years, and usually I find them after the holidays are over. I wrote about my card hunt some time ago here

Going to second hand shops is a lovely type of fishing. You never know what you are going to catch. Just today I walked into a few shops and although a couple of things did catch my eye, I made a decision to not buy them. The biggest trouble with buying stuff is that my home is not made of rubber and everything needs its own place. But one thing is for sure - I will start preparing for Christmas already in January and when I find something nice, I'll be sure to share it on the blog also. How about you? Are you fed up with Christmas stuff already?

Jõulud on läbi, aeg hakata valmistuma jõuludeks!

Miks? Sest just taaskasutuspoodidest leiab väga armsaid jõuluasju.

Sel aastal teatas mu tütar, et paar tema klassiõde käivad koolis jõulu temaatiliste kampsunitega ja küsis, ega minu aardelaekas midagi sellist pole. Mujal maailmas on jõuluteemalised sviitrid väga levinud, Eestis kindlasti vähem. Üks lahke second-hand poe müüja rääkis mulle, kuidas ta pani välja kümneid jõulukampsikuid ja samal ajal kauba väljapanekut jälginud proua aina ahhetas: "Küll on koledad kampsikud! No küll on jõledad!"

Mulle meeldivad väga erinevad jõuluehted - just sel aastal ostsin sugulasele ilusa karbi vanamoodsa välimusega jõuluehteid, kuid kuna ta jõudis Eestist minema purjetada, otsustasin need hoopis endale jätta.

Ah jaa... Läbi aastate olen jõulukaardid ostnud samuti just second-hand poodidest ja tavaliselt leian nad eest just siis, kui pühad on läbi. Postkaardite jahtist kirjutasin mõni aeg tagasi siin.

Kahtlemata on second-hand poodides käimine üks mõnus kalastamine. Kuidas sinuga on lood? Kas sinu mõõt jõulukaubast on juba täis?
