Perfume Portrait: Elizabeth Arden My Fifth Avenue

Something keeps pulling me back to the same little streets where I take my evening walks. They’re the same similar paths with familiar trees, gardens and houses. Lit by the street lights, I like observing how the nature changes every night. The same cats await on those same steeers - one begs to be stoked, the other peeks from the bushes and the the third one walks me to the next street corner.

Those are the warm associations that were sparked when tried My Fifth Avenue by Elizabeth Arden for the first time. And all this despite the fact that the scent is inspired by the effervescent New York City and it’s a praise of sorts to the unique excitement that can arise in the heart of a big city. At the same time, I associate the small streets, home train station and the sound of the train whistle that you can hear from afar. This scent takes me to a small grove where you can listen to the sounds of the nature in the dark. When reading the description of My Fifth Avenue and comparing it to my own associations, I found myself thinking that just as a perfume turns into a unique piece of art on everyone's skin, it also triggers wonderfully different associations.

We shot these images in a grove where I drop by on my walks even during the darkest of times. On the day of the shoot, leaves had already fallen on the clearance and I was overcome by the irresistible desire to lay down on the grass. Wearing a velvet dress and the only accessory being My Fifth Avenue, I realised the scent carries a secret plot between velvet and autumn.

So I started to research the components hidden in this minimalist bottle. The top notes tempt us with lemon, mandarine, and violet. The heart holds lotos flower and jasmine. In the base notes, there is a mystic trio of musc, ambra, and iris as well as cedar oil. This beautiful combination creates wonderful warmth that I feel in my heart when I walk these roads I have grown accustomed to since I was a kid. You can't beat childhood. Perhaps that's the reason why I always choose the same route?  And what would be nicer than finding a perfume that reminds you of the safe paths of your childhood?

Just need soojad seosed tekkisid mul, kui pihustasin esimest korda käele Elizabeth Ardeni parfüümi My Fifth Avenue. Ometi on see lõhn inspireeritud hoopis pulbitsevast New Yorgist ja tegemist on omamoodi ülistuslauluga suurlinna südamest tärkavale unikaalsele vaimustusele. Samal ajal seostuvad minule selle parfüümiga omakorda vaiksed tänavad, kodune raudteejaam ja kaugelt kostuv rongivile. Mind viib see lõhn väikesesse valgustamata metsasalku, kus saab pimeduses looduse hääli kuulata.
