Girl Friday: Wandering around the market

Be it winter, autumn, or spring, one of the loveliest places in Tallinn is Nõmme market. It's as if there's always a party going on there. As a girl who grew up in Nõmme, I remember this place among the first memories of my life. Nõmme market is also one of the most beautiful ones - I always feel an inexplicable sense of happiness there - plants, strawberries, vegetables and all this stuff always makes me happy.

This is why Stellarium's Instagram followers probably saw the most Instagram stories from the market or when I'd brought a plant back to my home garden. This Girl Friday takes it up a notch at the market - I picked out a long pink dress from the wardrobe which reminds me of the summery flower stalls at the market. And as I like mixing unexpected things together, I added a casual warm jacket to the dress. With a crossbody bag in the colour of the summer sky and a basket in the same shade along with us, we toured the market. And of course we had to make a stop at the Buxhoeveden bakery that's become one of the symbols of Nõmme market and that sells world's best bakery goods. Happiness starts with the little things for me. One of them is wandering around the market. This Girl Friday is devoted to all those who find joy in the little things. What's your relationship with markets and which market do you find the loveliest? BTW... After a long time, I decided to curl my hair. What do you think, should I curl my hair? I was very happy to have the curls back!

Olgu suvi või talv, sügis või kevad, üks kõige armsamaid kohti Tallinnas on Nõmme turg. Seal oleks justkui alati pidu.

Üks nendest on turul uitamine. Ah jaa... Otsustasin üle pika aja juuksed lokki keerata. Kuidas sulle tundub, kas peaksin siiski lokke kandma? Ise rõõmustasin enda lokikeste üle väga!

The irresistible red check shirt

There's always something irresistible about a red check shirt. The shirt can be worn with a tweed pencil skirt, and the more daring ones can mix it with a woollen maxi skirt or with any pair of trousers. Here's the second outfit I put together for the Superdry fashion show, worn on the catwalk by Eeva Esse.

I solved it simply - I added torn jeans, high heels, and as per usual - a lot of jewellery. I like the abundance of jewellery about this outfit the most - bronze elements and black wooden vintage pearls, a long bronze necklace with a little naughty twist in it - make the shirt something completely new. There's never too much of a good thing - big bronze earrings decorated the ears. When I pick jewellery, I always go for the same shade when I match them. Here, the pearls, the necklace, as well as the earrings are all bronze. What's your relationship with big jewellery?

When we were doing this shoot, the paradise apples had just gotten ripe in the garden and rowan berries were all fire red. Now that I'm only wearing my Balmoral Hunter wellies, it's lovely to think about the time when your toes could peep out and the sun was stroking them. Luckily, the same outfit is really comfortable also with wellies. Oh yes - Estonia switched to winter time recently - how does changing the time affect you and does it also affect your life? I have discovered a long time ago that it's worth putting everything ready in the evening, then you won't get a headache in wardrobe in the morning. Regardless of how much someone's turned the clock.

Punases päevasärgis, kus ruudud on reas nagus sõdurid, on alati midagi vastupandamatut.

Need kaks teevad lihtsast päevasärgist hoopis midagi uut.

Õnneks on seesama outfit kummikutega ülimalt mugav. Ah jaa...

The Superdry Show: like just a moment ago ...

One brand I've always loved is Superdry. So you can imagine how flattered I was when I was invited to style their autumn-winter collection. Although I've styled hundreds of known people for photo series, and I have a few scandalous front covers in my repertoire, a fashion show was a challenge of a different kind.

One evening I was sitting in the bedroom with my mother and I showed her my collection of vintage jewellery. Mother was looking at my jewellery and asked in sheer surprise why I don't wear them daily. She was looking at the jewellery in my case and eventually said it was a sin to let these kinds of this just stand in boxes and cases... Then she was shaking her head as if I was a child who has disappointed her greatly. Exactly that moment I was thinking about how to style the Superdry show. Sitting next to my mother, I came to a realisation - I decided to mix my vintage jewellery with the new Superdry collection. My idea was amplified by looking at my old works. I was posing in Superdry clothes last year for the blog, and when I looked at one image I asked myself: "Where's my legendary statement wristlet? Why did I leave it out of the series?"

Another topic was the models. I wanted them to be people who are known, who have a character, and who have inspired me throughout the years in one way or another. At the same time, I didn't want those on the stage who show themselves at literally every event. Everything had to be balanced, and the party had to be on the stage. There were musicians, sportspeople, actors, and TV stars among the models. What a compliment - all the people we invited were happy to participate.

Merle Palmiste - What`s in her makeup bag?

Actress Merle Palmiste is the woman who opens her makeup bag for Stellarium this week. I met Merle Palmiste for the first time at the age of 20 when I was writing the TV series "Waba Riik" where she played the murderer I had created. Ever since our roads have crossed every once in a while. Meeting Merle is always like a trip to an exotic land - she has incredible stories to tell about her roles and travels that are surely bigger than life. Merle welcomed us in the dressing room of the Drama Theater.

When local glamour magazines test cosmetics, Merle always gets an invitation. She has helped to pick the best cosmetic products, the most red lipsticks and different perfumes. But long before Merle conquered stages and magazine covers with her red lips, she made trips to her mother's makeup bag as a little girl. Merle's mother is a black-haired and always perfectly made up dame, and the actress reminisces that there have always been a lot of cosmetics at her home. Merle used to knick lipstick from her mother, and she also found use for the blush. Today, red lips are her signature.

Merle says that makeup is magical in its own way: "When you're in a bad mood, you do your makeup, and the mood gets better." The everyday rituals for the actress are lighter foundation for the spring and thicker for the winter - it's like a garment that protects the skin. Additionally, Merle uses red lipstick and mascara before leaving the house.  Design is no lesser part of products. Merle finds that perfectly designed lipsticks, powder tins, and perfumes create a totally different feeling - you get the emotion of a boudoir. But the most important for Merle is invisible to others: "My weakness is lingerie and perfumes. They are things that are for yourself, and hidden for others." Merle has two makeup tables - one at home, and the other one in the dressing room at the theatre. It means that part of her endless perfume collection ends up in the dressing room.

Merle has used various perfumes on the stage to get in the role better. "For example, when we started doing "Kirsiaed" ("Cherry Garden"), I bought a Guepard perfume in a golden box, and that perfume bottle reminded me of the Russian Drama Theatre. I also felt that it suited the character I played." When sun starts shining and birds singing in the spring, Merle starts craving yellow and green colours. It means that a yellow primrose will find its way to her home, orange and citrus scents are of preference. And of course spring longs for a fuchsia lipstick, and some new perfumes. Soon  Merle will travel to Paris, and she's planning on buying Lancome's perfume there that's made for the millenium "2000 et Une Rose Lancome". Every spring Guerlain brings out a new lily of the valley perfume, and Merle is planning on meeting the newcomers in Paris. "I really like Guerlain's scented candles and their headquarters in Paris. You can dream big! But Tallinn is an ideal place for perfume connoisseurs - my praise goes both to Crème de la Crème perfumerie and the perfume room of Tallinna Kaubamaja."

How to look like a million dollars? Merle says that for her, this means a long sleep and good mood. The latter is the most important. Beauty starts within. Merle's beauty motto: "You have to take care of yourself. A flower doesn't grow when you don't water or fertilise it. And a woman is like a flower."

Täna on Merle kaubamärgiks punased huuled.

Viimane on kõige olulisem. Ilu algab seestpoolt." Naine on ju lill."
